The Story:
Leung Po Yee (Cora Miao) and Shin Chi Wai
(CYF) got married several years and they have a son, Dong Dong.
Days were quiet until Po found out that Chi has an affair with a
young girl named Ollie (Cherie Chung). It’s up to the point she
cannot take it anymore. She wants a divorce. Chi doesn’t want to
but have no choice. They agreed to separate first. Po will have
custody of Dong and Chi moves in with Ollie.
After they separate, Po joins a single women’s club comprising
members frustrated in love, divorcees and widows. The members seem
to lead a carefree life, but deep down inside they are lonely and
frustrated. They tried to set Po up with different men but Po somehow
still thinks about Chi. Besides, Dong is very attached to his father
and the separation is impacting him a big deal. All these things
bother Po.
At the same time, the group of women has troubles of their own.
One of them tried male prostitute but felt so ashamed and attempts
suicide. Others cannot choose to be wives or mistresses. One of
them even seduces Po into a gay relationship. Seems that single
women also have lots of difficulties.
Chi has a good sexual relationship with Ollie but her immature
and highly possessive personality becomes too much for him. On the
day when he signs divorce paper with Po, he found Ollie with a shoplifting
habit and greatly embarrassed him and Po in front of many people.
Chi then realized that Po has been his perfect match. The same night,
Chi invited Po out for dinner and apologizes about the unpleasant
incident that day. He further tells Po his feelings and offers to
reconcile. Hearing the words, Po weeps in deep emotion in public.
When Ollie found out Chi and Po’s meeting, she is extremely angry
and made a big scene. Chi cannot take her and gave her a slap. Ollie
left in anger. Po saw the whole happening but feel sympathetic with
Ollie instead. She followed Ollie and consoled her. After a long
talk, the two women who were enemies become friends. Ollie decided
to leave Chi while Po gets back with him.
Things seem came to a good ending but in a party to celebrate their
re-union, Chi showed his suspicious and self centered face to Po.
They separate the second time after a big fight.
Some days later, the two meet on the street. The cooled feelings
made them very calm. Chi again wants to get back together with Po.
She agreed for the sake of the happiness of their only son. Sometimes,
marriage is just a need, a convenience in life.
